About:

Clove Lakes Park is the premier migrant trap on the island. Starting in late March, northward bound migrants start showing up in the forest, and along the stream that connects the park's three large bodies of water. As spring time progresses the number, and diveristy of species increases. On a good day in May an observer can find up to 25 different specie of wood-warblers, along with other migrants such as rose-breasted grosbeak, flycatchers, cuckoos and vireos. Every year those prizes of spring migrantion hooded, prothonotary, and kentucky warblers are found somewhere within the park boundaries. In the fall many of the same species that use the park as a northward stopover, again use the park as a south-bound stopover. During the winter and summer, many of the island's resident species are easy to find here.

Anywhere in this park can be a good place to find birds. A walk up and down the wooded stream and ponds in the morning, followed by a stroll through the forested hillsides is a good strategy to maximize possiblities.
